Today's technology has raced ahead.
LCD & Plasma televisions have only been around for a few years,
and the reliability of them is unknown.
Yes the price of them has come down significantly recently but are
they reliable?
We are asked many times a week if we repair LCD & Plasma?
It depends on the fault with the equipment as to whether it is cost
effective to repair or perhaps better to replace?
There are companies that advertise a repair service of LCD & Plasma
televisions, but they also ask for a hefty non refundable inspection
fee!
If we are called to one of these sets, we will asses the fault on spot,
(31 years of television repair experience and knowing the cost of purchasing
of electronic components) If we don't think it cost effective, we
will tell you so.
At the end of the day it is up to you as to whether you then take it
elsewhere, we would just remind you that you may pay out for an assessment
elsewhere and get nothing for your money.
C.R.T (Cathode Ray Tube) televisions are not yet past their sell
by date.
Most television faults start with poor connections or internal parts
such as capacitors loosing their value or tolerances.
These faults are easily repaired.
Some items in a crt type television such as the TUBE (CRT) or the Line
output Transformer (LOPTX) can make it un-economical to repair.
Having
said that, just because the lad down the road says 'It must
be the Tube' does not mean that it is the tube that is causing
the fault!
Let a professional look at it first.
We see many televisions where the next door neighbour or the man
down the street has said 'It's the Tube' and guess what? It NEVER
is the TUBE!
