Personal Video Recorders (PVR)

Personal Video Recorders (PVR) You may not have heard of these yet?

Basically they are a freeview receiver with a Hard Drive built in.

Most PVR's Will allow you to record one station and watch another at the same time.
There are versions that will allow you to record 2 stations and watch a third station all at the same time!
You can even pause live TV.

At the time of writting this, i have the version that i can record one station and watch a second.

Benefits of a PVR;

1. All the new Digital stations are included.

2. You can record at least one station and watch a second.

3. You can start playback before the recording has finished.

4. You can pause LIVE TV.

5. There is a Program Guide.

6. Timers are easily set using the Program Guide.

7. Approx 35 hours recording time available. (Depends on make/model.

8. You can copy from the Hard Drive to a Video or DVD

In the north west area we are being forced to switch to digital television reception sometime in 2009.No fixed date has been set for this as yet.
Other area's of the country have started the switch over already!

What do you need for the switch over?

If you have Satellite, Cable or Freeview already, then you are ready for the digital switch over.

In some cases you might need a second source of signal in order to watch one program whilst recording another.
